For someone who claims and swears by her love of books, I have not been very good at showing it, especially last year. I think I read such a few books I can’t even remember what they were. Lol.
Anyways, I promised myself I will be reading books this year. And I also promise myself I will be reading the unread books that have been waiting for me on my shelf. I have quite a few that I would have loved to read last year, but didn’t.
Here are some of the ones I am promising to read before the end of this year (hopefully).
I bought this at the 2019 Manila International Book Fair and was super stoked to finally get a copy. Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author of all time. Although I have to say I am a terrible fan because I haven’t finished all of his books even though I love his writing so much. I heard a lot of great things about Skyward and its sequel so I can’t wait to read this and drool over this.
I am giving Laini Taylor another shot. I didn’t like her first book… What’s the name of that book? Omg. I am completely lost. Anyway, the first book that she released. Everyone loved that book and I was like… Meh. I didn’t think I finished reading that one. But I am giving this a try because I think the synopsis is intriguing and could be something I would end up loving. Cross fingers.
I suck at series so bad but Shadowhunter series by Cassie Clare are some of the few that I end up finishing. I have finished her first two: The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. Both of which I fell in love with, I just ended up liking TID more than the other because I feel TMI has been drawn out more than it should be. Anyways, I love this world, I love it’s magic, so I can’t wait to relive the magic from the Shadowhunter world.
To be honest, I have zero knowledge what this was about when I picked this up at the book fair. This is one of those “oh-geez-that-cover-looks-pretty-let-me-buy-that” kind of moments. I mean look at it, that cover is gorgeous. The title sounds pretty amazing too so. Yeah. After getting the book I read the synopsis and sounds like I would end up enjoying it anyways. It ended up like a win-win situation I guess.
I love Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles (which I have to finish by the way… damn I suck at series) so when I heard she was releasing another, I got super excited. I didn’t have a copy of this so when I saw that someone was selling a hard cover of this at a very cheap price, I just got up and bought it. No questions asked. I love how Marissa Meyer’s write so I am pretty sure I’ll enjoy this.
Rick Riordan’s spin on myth is one of my favorite guilty pleasure reads. Technically, these are middle grade books I think, but I love how he uses mythology characters and spin them into something unique then places them in the modern time. I have devoured the Percy Jackson series, I have yet to read the Heroes of Olympus (but I will hold your horses. I will), but like what happened with my copy of Renegades, the same person was selling this at a super cheap price (hardcover. Yeah baby), I just had to get it. So here I am with the first two books, I can’t wait to immerse myself into Rick Riordan’s world again.
The last and final book is the book that I will forever hate myself for not reading sooner. Nikolai is my soulmate. I should have put him first. I should have read his book first. Why? Why did I not read this sooner? Because I am an idiot. I love the Grisha trilogy. The Six of Crows duology. What the hell am I doing not reading this? I have no idea. I need to get to this soon. Like soon! Nikolai does not deserve to be ignored.
So these are all the books I need to read before the end of the year. Most of them were not released last year because I have had a terrible reading slump for a year and a half already I think. I’m trying to get back. Hopefully, this is the year I make a good comeback.
