ASK THE BOOK COMMUNITY: Dnf-ing books

ASK THE BOOK COMMUNITY is a series that I am planning to do on my blog where I’ll be posting some bookish topics on Twitter to get more insight on what other readers’ responses are about the said topic. This week, the topic I asked ...

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY: Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“Back then, I had an oversize sense of self-importance and absolutely no self-worth. It didn’t matter how gorgeous I was or how great my voice was or what magazine I was on the cover of. I mean, there were a lot of teenage girls that ...

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY: Psycho-Pass Season 1

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

DISCLAIMER: I have read this book back in 2016 and posted this review on Goodreads but my thoughts about this still has not changed. A lot of my Goodreads friends have loved this book; I was one of the few that did not love this. All The Bright ...

BOOKS I MUST READ IN 2020

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY: The Witcher Season 1

So that was surprising. I did not expect to love this series to be completely honest. I love fantasy. Whether it’s a book, a TV series, movies, or whatever – I eat them up – but The Witcher was never in my radar until I saw the ...

LOVE THE BOOK, HATED THE MC – THE POPPY WAR BOOK REVIEW

WHAT’S NEW ON MY INSTAGRAM

4.5 stars⁣ ⁣ Why isn't this author more popula 4.5 stars⁣
⁣
Why isn't this author more popular?⁣
I am so confused.⁣
His prose was beautiful.< I am in love with how he writes. Sure, it challenged my vocabulary a little bit because I am not a native English speaker, but the way he uses words was just plain beautiful and lyrical.⁣
I absolutely loved it.⁣
This book was only 48 pages. 48!!!⁣
Yet it was able to completely emerse me with this steampunk alternate version of Cairo back in 1912.⁣
Supernatural beings walk among mankind, some lived peacefully with men while some wreck havoc.⁣
The pace was fast given it only had 48 pages to tell a story. Some books with 300 pages and more have problems with telling a cohesive story, but A Dead Djinn in Cairo was able to do that wonderfully with such a short page count.⁣
Every page was oozing with awesomness.⁣
Not sure if that's actually a word, but yeah, this was awesome!⁣
The reason why I couldn't give this a full 5 stars was because I feel that the author missed to tell us about a few unfamiliar terms that was used in the story. As the story was set in Egypt, some foreign terms were used that were never really elaborated on so I had to use a dictionary. Lol.⁣
Thank God for Kindles and their built in dictionaries.⁣
⁣
What else can I say, I loved this and I'm going to read more from this author, 100%.⁣

I'm currently reading The Poppy War and was not it I'm currently reading The Poppy War and was not it expecting this to be Grimdark. Fantasy, yes. Grimdark, no. While I am enjoying this book, the content it was is not easy to read. There are violence and drug use. Some themes that others may not be comfortable with. But the writings, the mythology, the politics, all of these were done so well by the author. I'm so happy that more asian inspired books are now coming out. I am here for all of them!⁣
