THE Q & A REVIEW:
WHAT MADE YOU BUY THE PRODUCT?
I love Korean Beauty products. One of the things I love about their products are their lipsticks. I love how they feel on the lips. They are rarely drying. Some of their shades don’t really work for my skin tone, and I have bought a few that looks too bright on me (Ahem Peri Pera), but layering it with a darker lippie will give you that beautiful gradient effect on the lips – and I freakin love it.
So anyway, the story is, I always wanted to try a Clio product. I have a couple of Peri Pera ones but none from Clio. I was preparing for my company’s year-end party when my friend and I came across a sale on one of the Clio counters here in the Philippines and I knew, right there and then, that I had to get myself one.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE PACKAGING?
The packaging is simple and sleek which I absolutely love. The product is contained in a elegant matte packaging with the name imprinted on the cap. The product itself isn’t shaped look like a typical bullet lipstick. It is circular with one end slightly slanted. This doesn’t give me any issues applying this on my lips.
The box is rather nice too. On the side of the box, you get the name of the shade that you have which is pretty sweet.
HOW PIGMENTED IS IT?
One swipe and you can get a full on color on the lips.
WHAT IS THE FINISH/TEXTURE OF THIS PRODUCT?
This is the type of matte that I live for. It’s the type of matte that will not leave your lips feeling and looking like the Sahara desert. It’s definitely matte but with the right amount of creaminess. There is no tugging, whatsoever, which is just perfect. You can layer it multiple times and it would still look so pretty on your lips. It doesn’t crack, and doesn’t cake, which is exactly what it claims to be.
IS IT LONG LASTING? HOW LONG BEFORE YOU HAVE TO REAPPLY? IS IT TRANSFER PROOF/SMUDGE PROOF?
This product last quite a decent amount of time, as long as you don’t eat because this product does transfer. I’d say it will last you a good 3-4 hours without eating or drinking, could be more. You can probably get away with not reapplying this for a maximum of 5-6 hours if you don’t eat lipstick like me. Haha.
To be fair, this product doesn’t really claim that it’s long lasting like that Maybelline Superstay lipsticks, so I can’t complain.
This product does transfer. I guess you can’t really have a creamy matte lipstick that doesn’t completely transfer. If there is one, please let me know because I’d love to get my hands on one. While this does transfer, it doesn’t smudge, so that’s a good thing.
HOW MANY SHADES DO THEY HAVE?
They currently have 18 shades. Click here to see all the shades available for this product.
A couple of my favorites that I would love to get my hands on are 07 Bare It All, 09 Mellow Rose, and 18 Deep Cranberry.
DO YOU HAVE A SWATCH OF THE PRODUCT?
IS WORTH THE PRICE?
The product is priced at Php 750 here in the Philippines. That’s the regular price. I got mine on sale which is about 650 (I think). That is still a huge amount for a single lipstick in my opinion. However, I do believe you get what you paid for with this product. It works well. It delivers on its claims. So if you are a fan of these types of lipsticks, then you won’t be disappointed with this.
WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT WORKED FOR YOU?
• They have such good shades. Plus they a wide variety too. They now have 18 gorgeous shades.
• It’s matte but isn’t drying.
• It’s hydrating.
• Stays true to its claim.
• I love how smooth and creamy it is on my lips.
• There is no tugging on the lips when applied.
• It is not streaky when applied.
• Doesn’t emphasize dry patches on the lips.
• It’s multi-purpose. You can use this as a blush or as an eye shadow. I have used this for both and works well.
WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT DIDN’T WORK FOR YOU?
• It is expensive. I mean it isn’t as expensive as MAC or other high end brands, but my wallet is always on a budget. Even if I wanted to buy more of this, I can’t because of how much cash I’m going to shell out just to get another one.
• Doesn’t last too long on the lips.
• Not transferproof.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT? WHY AND WHY NOT?
I would highly recommend this to anyone who could afford it. This product is so good, but my main issue with it was the price.
I love the consistency of the Mad Matte Lips. However, I just can’t spend that much money on lipsticks when I can get one with almost (and I say almost because this is still one of the best) the same quality at a fraction of the price.
The Maybelline Creamy Mattes are a good alternative for this. It’s not as creamy as this but it does offer good pigmentation and longer wear time.
